Golf
Golf is a relatively recent phenomenon in Slovakia, but the number of courses has increased in recent years as its popularity – with international visitors as well as locals –has grown.
The closest major golf course to Bratislava is Black River in Bernolákovo, about 20 kilometres from the city centre. It has an 18-hole, par-73 course that claims to be "the toughest golf course in Europe". For less ambitious players there is also a 9-hole course. Both are set in historical parkland around an eighteenth-century baroque mansion, boasting 200-year-old redwood, chestnut and oak trees.
Only slightly further away, about 30 kilometres north of the city, is the White Eurovalley course, which opened in 2009 and is marketed jointly with Black River.
