A short guide to Bratislava's history as
the coronation city of Hungarian kings
The only ruling queen was Maria Theresa from the Habsburg
family who was crowned with all ceremony in St. Martin’s
Cathedral on June 25, 1741. The first person to accept the
title and crown was King Maximilian September 8, 1563.
The city experienced its last coronation on September 28,
1830 with the coronation of Ferdinand V.
